Title :
Powder coated conductor for transformer windings
Author_Institution :
Westinghouse Electric Corporation, Sharon, Pennsylvania, USA
Abstract :
The Westinghouse Transformer Divisions have developed a new wire insulation employing an epoxy powder. The development program was initiated to produce a superior, thin, tough and flexible conductor insulation. Coating trials were first made on a pilot coating facility located in the Materials and Manufacturing Technology Department Laboratories in Sharon, Pennsylvania. Based upon the successful coating of rectangular and round copper and aluminum wires, additional tests were performed to establish the suitability of the powder insulated conductors in oil filled power and distribution transformers.
