  • Abstract
The fundamental question arises especially from the customer´s point of view, to what extent the contracting models in workshops can contribute towards the optimization of the degree of performance. However, this question cannot be easily answered due to lack of methodical support. Conventional methods for the determination of the optimal degree of performance are not suitable for the assessment of contracting models, because these do not map the changes related to the contracting models. Consequently, there is an urgent need for action in determining the real potential of contracting models in workshops. For this reason, an assessment methodology is introduced in this paper for the comparison of contracting models and classical acquisition types, such as the in-plant production and external procurement. Thus, the assessment methodology supports the benchmarking of the available acquisition types and enables in individual cases to make well founded decisions for or against the use of contracting models.
