Abstract :
Evaluation of a new magnet wire film insulation involves three factors: a. Will it meet the technical requirements of the application? b. Is it manufacturable without loss of productive capacity and without excessive manufacturing losses? c. Is it the most economical material available that will meet the technical and manufacturing criteria above? This paper will concentrate on the third of these factors — material cost. Its purpose is to present a method of determining the cost of any given film insulation in finished form on wire. Thus, any film insulation will be directly comparable to any other film insulation for comparison of material cost.
