Abstract :
New concepts in insulator design are required for the special environment of a flexible gas insulated transmission system. This paper presents a discussion of dielectric, mechanical and other property requirements. Test data from preliminary electrical and mechanical evaluations is also shown together with finished insulator performance. Use of field plotting techniques to study dielectric behavior is described. The work reported has been sponsored by EPRI.
