Abstract
According to the statistics, there is low resource utilization and high energy consumption in traditional servers. To reduce the cost, more and more companies begin to build virtual servers. Sever virtualization implements the mapping from virtual resources to physical resources and deal with resource contention among all VMs. Because of complexity of virtualized server systems, it is necessary to evaluate the performance of virtual servers. In this paper, we present the major performance-influencing factors in KVM virtualization. Based on factors, then we propose a performance evaluation model based on queuing networking model. In the end, we give a case study to illustrate the use of performance evaluation model on specific KVM virtualized environment and verify the correctness of the model.
