Abstract :
The field of electrical insulation performance is a natural for the application of Statistical Methods for the analysis of the multitude of data resulting from even a modest study. Computer-based statistical analysis programs are available having more capability than may be required, permitting the investigator to delve deeply into the data, without real concern for computer/computer program limitations. Interactive data analysis then allows the investigator the freedom to move at will within the programs, restrained only by the experimental data, generating those statistics he needs without the necessity of wading thru literally reams of printout, much of which may not be desired. An example of an interactive data analysis as applied to an oil/paper insulation study has been made, providing a suggested course of action to determine the relative influence of five variables in any combination upon the 60 Hz dielectric strength of a specimen representative of turn-to-turn insulation as used in large power transformers.
