Abstract
It is a transition period for Urban Metro Network System (UMNS) in China, as operation mode changes from single line operation to network operation. UMNS is a complex system of system which integrates physical devices, track networks, workers and passengers together. By reviewing the prior works on UMNS, the physical, topological and social vulnerability of UMNS are proposed. A quantitative approach for assessing the vulnerability of UMNS has been presented. The analysis also provides the formation mechanism of vulnerability of UMNS. The case study of Shanghai Metro accidents is used for further analyzing the mechanism of different vulnerabilities.
