Abstract
This paper proposes a new blind method CIVA for channel equalization. The proposed method performs optimal trellis search without channel estimation. The trellis metrics are updated by the output of a bank of probes, which can be on-line implemented in parallel fashion as a filter bank. The algorithm has near maximum likelihood optimal performance even for SISO or ill-conditioned SIMO channels. In addition, it may practically outperform and converge faster than even training methods.
