  • Abstract
The goal of this paper is to verify if the occurrence of the standard aeroacoustic Seebeck Siren Effect is possible for the case of non-cavitating underwater propellers. To that end, we develop a rough simplified theoretical acoustic source model for such kind of propeller. In addition, a prototype of an underwater propeller was built to investigate its behavior as an underwater sound source. For this purpose, an experiment was conducted in a water tank, at IEAPM (Instituto de Estudos do Mar Almirante Paulo Moreira) installations, for checking the sound radiated by the propeller. Our preliminaries experiment results strongly suggested that the underwater siren effect occur.
