Abstract
This paper presents a method for primary evaluation of a wind farm based on the wind turbine Adaptability Coefficient. This coefficient is calculated according to economical criteria of wind turbines as well as their capability in power production through the site where the wind turbines will be installed. The data series of wind recorded from three different sites and characteristics of several types of wind turbine are investigated. In addition, the US standard for wind site classification is used to evaluate the power production of each site. The proposed method uses the adaptability of each wind turbine according to each site and indicates their abilities which can be compared logically. Statistical and simulation results using MATLAB show the effectiveness of proposed method in determining the economical and productive adaptive wind turbine for each site.
