    This article consists of a collection of slides from the author´s conference presentation on optimial custom instruction processors. Some of the specific topics discussed include: the special features and system specifications of extensible processors; design flow capabilities; instruction set selection and bandwidth considerations; applications specific processor synthesis; and both current and future areas of processor technology development.
