Abstract
This paper presents a control approach based on an offset reduction SOGI (Second Order Generalized Integrator) for a S-DSTATCOM (Solar-Distribution Static Compensator). The proposed system transfers power from solar PV (photo-Voltaic) array to the single-phase single phase distribution along with power quality improvement. The proposed SPV system consists of a single VSC (Voltage Source Converter) which serves multiple purposes such as, MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) and harmonics mitigation while maintaining unity power factor for grid current. The PV array is connected at the DC link of the VSC and the DC link voltage is so adjusted that PV array operates at MPP. An offset reduction SOGI control approach is used to process grid voltage and load current in order to avoid effects of DC offsets due to introduced due to sensing, measurement or inherent system properties. A PV feed-forward component is also included in the control algorithm for VSC to ensure fast dynamic response. The proposed system is simulated in MATLAB based platform. Under steady state operating conditions, the THD (Total Harmonic Distortion) of grid current is found well under IEEE-519 standard. A wide variety of simulation results are shown to demonstrate the features of the SPV system.
