Abstract :
To improve the results of image denoising, hybrid approach of transform domain and spatial domain filtering is found to be more advantageous. In our method, we proposed combination of Shearlet transform and bilateral filter as hybrid approach. In transform domain Shearlet transform provides better directionality as compared to other wavelet based transforms and in spatial domain Bilateral filter considers both geometric and photometric distance of the pixels for image denoising, so it reduces noise and preserves the edges unlike other spatial filters. Our proposed hybrid method proves best with respect to visible quality and quality metric PSNR as compared with other existing methods.
