Abstract :
Design and experimental analysis of beam steering in microstrip patch antenna array using dumbbell shaped Defected Ground Structure (DGS) for S-band (5.2 GHz) application was carried out in this study. The Phase shifting in antenna has been achieved using different size and position of dumbbell shape DGS. DGS has characteristics of slow wave, wide stop band and compact size. The obtained radiation pattern has provided steerable main lobe and nulls at predefined direction. The radiation pattern for different size and position of dumbbell structure in microstrip patch antenna array was measured and comparative study has been carried out.
