Abstract :
Wireless devices and connectivity are becoming more vital on everyday life. Key to the wireless revolution is the implementation of multi functionality, broadband reception at high data rate and miniaturization of wireless devices and its accessories. High performance small antennas such as micro strip antennas are emerged as a key driver in marketing and next generation devices. This paper begins with brief overview of basic characteristics of micro strip antenna, and then it provides review of different techniques of miniaturization of micro strip antenna towards improvement of bandwidth and antenna parameters. The paper is concluded with optimization techniques such as genetic algorithm (GA) and particle swarm optimization (PSO), that are used for getting desired performance parameters of miniaturized micro strip antenna.
