  • Abstract
Fractional calculus is a field of mathematical analysis and applicable in various fields such as image processing, financial system design, power transmission units, automobiles and various control system. Fractional calculus have many advantages in analytical world and much progress has been made in theory, but little has been done to realize them physically. Principal objective of this work is to provide a practical and efficient way for hardware implementation of special functions for fractional calculus using DSP processor. This will help the researchers to implement the special functions of fractional calculus used for modeling and control using hardware. Fractional calculus functions like Pochhammers symbol, Gamma function, Mittag-Leffler function and Hypergeometric function are implemented on DSP. These functions are implemented using Texas Instrument TMS320C6713 floating point DSP processor. The results obtained using DSP processor are compared with the results obtained using MATLAB. From the results obtained, it is observed that the results closely match with MATLAB functions.
