Abstract :
A power equalization scheme has been proposed for non-degenerate cascaded phase-sensitive fiber-optic parametric amplifier (PS-FOPA) based on dispersion compensation fiber (DCF). The DCF is inserted between the phase-insensitive amplification segment and phase-sensitive amplification segment, and compensates the dispersion resulting from single-mode fiber that acts the wavelength-dependent phase shifter, i.e., a fiber patch cord which results in the power fluctuation of non-degenerate cascaded PS-FOPA for multiple input signals. When the optimized length of DCF is 125 m, the power fluctuation of non-degenerate cascaded PS-FOPA for sixteen input signals has been decreased from 7.74 dB to 1.17 dB, and the gain bandwidth of non-degenerate cascaded PS-FOPA is broadened and approximately equal to 15 nm.
