Abstract :
Cross layer techniques provide fair information sharing between OSI model layers. Using these techniques, the persistent timeout policy has been proposed to improve the management of the retransmission mechanism of the reliable transport protocols. It gives an appropriate response instead of the traditional behavior, if the transmission of data is temporally blocked by a bad state of the wireless channel. The knowledge of the channel state is provided by the 802.11 link layer through cross layer interactions. In a recent work, the persistent timeout policy has been applied to the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP) associated with the Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) in one side, and with the Destination Sequenced Distance-Vector (DSDV) protocol in another side. One of the remaining problems is to measure the attenuation level of the wireless bad state effect over a routing protocol combining the two factors of reactive nature with exchange between neighbors within the distant vector algorithm. The difference of the routing structures management modifies the nature of the bad state impact over routing protocols. In this paper, we are using the Ad hoc On-Demand Distance Vector (AODV) for routing needs to obtain an improved scheme of putting the persistent policy under test. The section I presents the introduction; section II presents an overview of the Stream Control Transmission Protocol (SCTP). Section III describes the AODV routing protocol. Section IV develops the persistent timeout policy principle and section V presents the simulation results.
