Abstract :
The unified power flow controller (UPFC) is used to mitigates voltage and current related power quality issues in the Power System. In this paper, application of UPFC with nonstiff source is proposed. A capacitor is used in series with the interfacing inductor of the shunt active filter. The system neutral is connected to the negative terminal of the dc-link. Due to this, the fourth leg in the voltage source inverter (VSI) of the shunt active filter is not required. Detailed design aspects of the series capacitor and voltage sourced inverter (VSI) parameters is discussed in the paper. A simulation study of the System without connecting UPFC and with connecting UPFC is carried out using MATLAB Software and the results are displayed.
