Abstract :
For four hydro and one thermal plants of short term hydro thermal scheduling, teaching learning based optimization techniques have been applied. This technique is an advanced evolutionary procedure built on two simple concepts of training specifically, teaching stage and learning stage. In primary stage, learners improve their awareness or capability with the help of the teacher and in secondary stage learners increase their knowledge by exchange between themselves. Results for four hydro and one thermal model test systems are conducted to generate optimum results of HTS problem. The reservoirs are cascaded and the control variables are non-linear relationship between water discharge rate, net head and power generation is considered. The delay of water transport between the cascaded reservoirs are also taken in to consideration. The results obtained by the different techniques were compared with this proposed technique, it is seen that the proposed technique got optimal results.
