Abstract :
This paper presents a method based upon Type-2 Fuzzy system for load frequency control of a two-area non-reheat thermal system. To study the dynamic response of the proposed system three different controllers namely conventional PID, Type-1 Fuzzy-PID & Type-2 Fuzzy-PID are used. The optimal gains of the aforementioned controllers are optimized by using a novel hybrid Differential Evolution-Particle Swarm Optimization (DEPSO) technique. Time domain objective function (ITAE) is used to determine the optimal parameters of the controllers. Step load perturbation (SLP) of 10% is applied in area1 to study the performance of different controllers. Finally it is observed that the T2FS controller i.e. Type-2 Fuzzy configuration performs better than the other two.
