Abstract :
Better cooling with the help of hydrogen pressure increases generation limit that will be more beneficial to the electricity marketers in order to utilize maximum capability of generators and transmission line. In this paper, the loadability enhancement is obtained by increasing hydrogen pressure in the hydrogen cooled turbo generators. Firstly the capability curves for the generators have been obtained with the impact of increased cooling and the capacity enhancement has been obtained. Then, with the enhanced capacity, an OPF model is developed in order to obtain increase in the loadability of the power system. Different cases with increase in hydrogen pressure has been considered and required hydrogen pressure requirement is also obtained based on the capability utilization in IEEE 24 bus test system.
