  • Abstract
The paper concerned with the enhancement in automatic generation control (AGC) performance of power system having two area, so that the change in frequency and power oscillations due to load variation must be reduced to zero as early as possible for stable operation. This aim is achieved by introducing superconducting magnetic energy storage (SMES) unit and Artificial Neural Network (ANN) controller in each area. The simulation results have been compared and analyzed. The performance of the system with SMES and ANN controller is compared to system with conventional PI controller.
