Abstract :
This article presents a novel structure for reducing mutual coupling between two diversity monopole antennas for WLAN 5.2/5.8 GHz applications. The structure has an E-shaped slot cut into the ground plane between the two monopoles. When the antenna spacing is 0 0.3λ0 (λ0-wavelength at 5.2GHz in the air), mutual coupling was -27.2dB at 5.2GHz and -31.1dB at 5.8GHz. The lowest mutual coupling of -31.9dB was achieved at 5.89GHz, which is 20.1dB improvement over the reference.
