Abstract
In this paper, a multimode microstrip antenna consist of two annular ring patch antennas operating at its TM11 and TM21 modes respectively for four ports multiple input multiple output (MIMO) applications is investigated. Both the two parts are dual-polarized. The inner patch which has cross slot in the center is excited by coaxial probe and the outer ring is excited by a microstrip curved bend. Therefore four different radiation patterns are achieved. The antenna operates at 2.57 GHz and exhibits a mutual coupling between the four input ports less than -17dB in simulation and -16.5dB in measurement. The antenna is designed based on cavity model and verified by HFSS.
