Abstract :
Sub-GHz gets more attention in the past few years due to unlicensed ubiquitous access in less-interfered frequency band and longer diffraction distance than 2.4 GHz utilized by Zigbee and Wifi. This paper presents the design and implementation of MAC and PHY of a wireless transmission protocol based on Sub-GHz called Micro-Power Wireless Data Transmission Protocol (MPWDTP) with software defined radio (SDR) of LabVIEW on Universal Software Radio Peripheral (USRP). The MAC is realized in C language via state machine and the C code is converted into LabVIEW code. The PHY is implemented in LabVIEW directly and the USRP is configured according to the protocol as the frontend of radio frequency (RF). Based on MPWDTP, the point-to-point topology about power consumption and GFSK demodulator bit error rate (BER) is simulated and the simulation results show that the power consumption of point-to-point topology with a distance of 10 meters tends to be stable at 350 uJ over time and the BER of the GFSK demodulator is 10-3 when the Eb/N0 is 8.51 dB. The validity of the designed MAC and PHY is verified by the SDR experimental platform.
