Abstract :
The minimum acceptable offshore distance is analyzed in this paper, beyond which the earth stations on board vessels (ESVs) in the frequency bands 5925-6425 MHz (C band) and 14-14.5 GHz (Ku band) will not interfere with terrestrial fixed service (FS) systems. The improved method to use in determination of a minimum offshore distance is based on the ITU-R Recommendation SF.1650-1 with the current ESV technologies and technical characteristics that are being or planned to be used. The calculation results or the ESV operational constraints can provide administrative and technical considerations in order to ensure the protection and future growth of the FS.
