Abstract :
Blind source separation (BSS) technique, such as Independent Component Analysis (ICA), is widely used for the removal of motion artifact. Motion artifact is the toughest interference during the monitoring of the ambulatory Electrocardiogram (ECG). To address this issue, in this paper, ICA is used for the removal of motion artifact from ECG. Both the ECG signal and the motion artifact are obtained from the physionet MIT-BIH arrhythmia database. ICA is realized by using Verilog HDL and both logic synthesis and physical synthesis are done for it. To measure the filtering result of ICA, the signal noise ratio (SNR) of ECG is adopted as the measurement index. The result shows that ICA can promote the SNR of ECG for 16 dB on average.
