Abstract :
As the demand and application scenario of 5 G becomes more and more clear, many physical layer air interface techniques are proposed. Some of them are still based on orthogonal multiple carrier modulation scheme, however, compared with 4G such as LTE, one of the difference is upcoming massive machine-type communication. So, the synchronization of inner receiver is required to perform as low latency and accuracy. This paper presents a real-time coarse synchronization unit which is implemented by Chisel (Constructing Hardware in a Scala embedded language). In the design, symbol synchronization is achieved through MMSE algorithm and fractional carrier frequency offset (FCFO) through redundant information contained in cyclic prefix (CP).
