Abstract :
A mathematical model of a synchronous reluctance machine based on the space phasor theory was developed. The third spatial harmonic of the magnetic flux density along the air gap of the machine due to the rotor magnetic saliency is considered. The distribution of the magnetic field in the machine is computed using an FEM model in 2D. The results obtained from both methods are compared and verified by measurements.
