Abstract :
This paper is concerned with the detection of equalisation errors in wireless communication systems subjected to multipath fading. No assumption is made regarding the additive noise distribution or the statistical properties of co-channel interference that may be present. In addition, no prior knowledge of channel/co-channel impulse responses or transmitted symbol sequences from different users is supposed to be available. Equalisation errors are detected by exploiting the statistical properties of the least squares fitting error for an underlying linear model between the detected symbols generated by the equaliser and the noisy channel output observations. The performance of the developed error detection test is illustrated by way of computer simulations.
