Abstract :
Our recent investigations of erbium doped fibre amplifiers with chosen cheap laser diodes at a wavelength of 1534 nm which behaved, depending on supply conditions, as either a quasi-single-mode, multi-mode, or luminescent diode shows that the idea of multichannel transmission can be realised by specially designing the multimode signal diode laser.
