  • Abstract
The aim of this paper is to present a motor parameters optimisation method of a high-speed two-phase switched reluctance motor. A suitable model of the motor is developed, which takes into account double saliency and iron saturation. The model inductances versus rotor position and current are calculated by the finite element method (FEM). From this model, current and torque waveforms can be obtained with use of a program called OPREL. Time constant of a phase winding is in the same range as t/sub on/ (turn-on duration), so one must take care for correct current commutation. The motor works in the angle controlled mode of operation. A method for loss calculation is presented, which is used to obtain optimal motor parameters in view of efficiency. Finally, model results and measurements are compared and discussed.
