Abstract :
We report on the application of a highly asymmetric nonlinear optical loop mirror (NOLM) for noise reduction and improvement of the system performance in 10-40 Gbit/s transmission experiments. The technique is applicable for bit-rates in excess of 160 Gbit/s.
