Abstract :
80 Gbit/s 15WDM alternated polarization-OTDM RZ (return-to-zero) signal transmission was successfully demonstrated over a 295 km NZ-DSF (nonzero dispersion shifted fiber). To reduce transmission impairments, CS-RZ (carrier suppressed RZ) format, alternated polarization-OTDM techniques and effective dispersion management were applied and, on average, a Q factor of about 15.7 dB was obtained after transmission.
