Abstract
The paper deals with simulation of lightning overvoltage generated by backflashes and direct strokes on a multiconductor model of real power lines, entering substations of various size and with various number of connected lines in range from 1 line up to 12 lines. Five real 400 kV substations are modelled as complete one phase schemes of busbars and all equipment connected. The simulation are repeated for various metal oxide arrester (MOA) locations including alternative without any protection. The resulting overvoltages in several basic points i.e. on line input with lightning, circuit breaker, busbar and power transformer are presented.
