Abstract :
This work presents a new method and the suitable installation of obtaining electrode materials with modified properties, necessary for the electrodes used especially in some industrial electrochemical processes. The modification of electrode material characteristics intends to obtain some electrocatalytical properties and also, high stability of electrode potential in time. Other purposes of these modifications are: the increment of corrosion resistance in aggressive mediums, especially under polarisation conditions in acid or chloride solutions, and the improvement of the active layer adhesion on the electrode surface. The proposed method is in accordance with the mentioned purposes and also eliminates the disadvantages caused by other methods, as the oxides dispersion in the flame of the combustion gases in order to obtain active oxide layer on the metallic surface. It consists in depositing, by electrical discharge, of successive oxide layers on an electrode surface (usually, a metallic surface). The nature and the proportion of the used oxides depend on the electrode destination (e.g. electrocatalytical properties, stability and corrosion resistance, etc.).
