Title :
The global market for power supply and power management integrated circuits
Author_Institution :
Venture Dev. Corp., Natick, MA, USA
Abstract :
The power supply and power management IC market has been on a roller-coaster ride over the last few years. From 1998 through 2000, the semiconductor industry raced to new highs: mergers and acquisitions, new product developments and company growth rates topping 100%. The market for power supply and power management ICs was $2.8 billion back in 1998 and skyrocketed to over $5.1 billion by the end of 2000, at a 35% CAGR. The following year, 2001, brought with it a radical drop in growth. In fact, Venture Development Corp. (VDC) expects shipment revenues to decline by 5% in 2001 approaching under $4.9 billion by the end of the year
