Abstract
With increasing use of distributed power architecture (DPA), brick DC/DC power converters have evolved as standard products, but can the product development and marketing guidelines and rules of typical standard commodity items be applied to standard brick converters and, by developing standard products, can companies make an acceptable and decent profit? This paper analyzes the various product development, marketing/selling and financial issues related to standard brick converters. It proposes an argument that marketing and manufacturing paradigms will change with advent of highly standardized products and decent profit can still be made
