            Abstract :
Summary form only given. Polarization scrambling at the transmitter´s bit rate provides the optimal trade-off between low- and high-speed scrambling. In addition bit-synchronous polarization/phase scrambling improves the transmission performance by increasing the eye opening. This new technique has allowed us to demonstrate 100 Gbit/s transmission of transoceanic distances.
