Abstract
In this paper, a novel mixed current and voltage control scheme for an inverter-controlled arc welding machine is proposed. The proposed control scheme uses both a closed-loop current controller and an open-loop voltage controller to optimize the output current and voltage waveform based on the metal transfer procedure. An experimental comparison is made between the proposed and the conventional control scheme for the full output-current range.
