Abstract :
Image distortion and insufficient image resolution are significant sources of error that should be taken into account in camera calibration. Calibration point detection (finding the center of marker) and image correction plays very important role during the calibration process. Our results showed that in case of wide angle lenses it is absolutely necessary to correct the image for distortion, if highest accuracy is demanded. Moreover, the extent of distortion is such that an increase of picture resolution, to determine more precisely calibration points, becomes significantly effective only after the images are distortion free.
