Abstract
We first present a short overview of the characteristics of the access network´s technologies and then focus on the comparison of metallic and optical access systems. In the final part, we place the emphasis on the presentation of the evolutionary deployment of optical access networks, concretely on the utilization of the FTTH/VDSL combination in the local access network.
