Abstract :
Destructive oscillations that are encountered in diode circuit analysis are investigated. It is shown that destructive oscillations that appear in the recovery period of the diode may occur at very low circuit inductances as well as at high circuit inductances. This result has been experimentally demonstrated by Somos (1961). From the author´s analysis it is possible to determine in which cases it is necessary to protect the semiconductor device.
