Abstract :
Polar Kerr rotation (PKR) technique has been used to investigate the implanted layer in a bubble garnet film. As PKR concerns only a thickness of about 100 Å, this technique has a higher resolution than others like FMR, Mössbauer. Two parameters are studied as a function of depth, the rotation φkand the field for saturation Hsat. Epitaxial (YSmLuCa)3(FeGe)5O12films implanted at 200 keV with a dose of 2.1014Ne+.Cm-2were studied. Samples were etched in steps of 100 Å and investigated. Results show three regions. φk(αMs) uniform from 0 to 2200 Å and is about half of the unimplanted value. Hsatindicates strong in plane anisotropy field of the order of 2200 Oe, which falls off sharply as one approaches the unimplanted region. The main important conclusion is that no nonmagnetic region is detected contrary to many other studies of the same implantation.
