Bias and alternating magnetic field dependences of some piezomagnetic properties of Fe-Si-B metallic glasses

Abstract :
Some piezomagnetic properties, i.e. magnetomechanical coupling coefficient k, Young´s moduli at constant magnetic field EHand at constant induction EBand internal friction coefficient Q-1, as functions of magnetic bias up to 3 kA/m and of amplitude of an alternating magnetic field up to 15 A/m have been investigated with the resonant methods at ultrasonic frequencies ranging from 30 to 60 kHz for as quenched amorphous alloys of compositions Fe81B15Si4, Fe81B17Si2and Fe81B19. The measured quantities exhibit extremal values at low biasing fields, i.e, in the region of non 180° domain wall movements.
