Abstract :
An effective method of "dry" separation of iron ores in combined steady and alternating magnetic fields is presented. Effects of alternating and steady field parameters on the efficiency of the separation process are studied. Experimental results are interpreted in the light of an analysis of grain and floccule vibrations in the resultant magnetic field. By using a belt separator, it is shown that the grade of a magnetic concentrate in the combined method is clearly higher than the grade in the method utilizing only a steady field system. Recovery of a magnetic product was found to be the same for both methods.
