Abstract :
A theoretical model of the statistical behaviour of a PMD emulator consisting of several rotatable linear birefringent elements in cascade enables the prediction of the emulator´s PMD value for given rotation angles. Experimental results in good agreement with numerical simulations are presented for an emulator made of 10 calcite crystals.
