Abstract :
A theoretical analysis of a two-stage compensator shows how to adjust its individual parameters for compensating PMD up to second-order by affecting the frequency dependent rotation of the fiber PSPs. We show the enlarged bandwidth of compensation in comparison to a simple first-order compensator.
