Abstract
This paper considers the design of a triode-type magnetron injection gun (MIG) for a dual frequency regime gyrotron that operates at 42/84-GHz frequencies and generates 500-kW power for plasma heating application in India. This paper is facilitated by determining the initial design following analytical expressions and then carrying out the design optimization using available ESRAY trajectory program. This paper also presents the design of magnetic guidance system. The optimized geometrical design of the MIG successfully works for both the frequencies 42 GHz and 84 GHz, respectively.
